They have a form where you enter a surname (last name) and you'll get a map of the United States showing the distribution of people with this surname within the 50 United States.

Family Search contains a vast repository of genealogical data. This information, developed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) has the largest library of genealogical records in the world. The Pedigree Resource File database contains over 80 million names that are linked into families. You need to be a registered user to provide feedback and submit your family records to this file. Click on Share from their home page to join e-mail mailing lists or submit your own research. But first, you'll need to register.
